Undergraduate Students
Community Health majors are advised in the Office of Student Affairs, College of Public Health, in Suite 1000 Peterson Hall. Students may make appointments with any advisor to discuss course planning, academic concerns, and to develop and pursue academic and professional goals.
To meet with an advisor in the College of Public Health, please make an appointment through the NavigateMason scheduling system. Appointments can also be made by calling the Office of Student Affairs in the College of Public Health at 703-993-1901 or sending an email to advcph@gmu.edu.

Frequently Asked Questions by CPH Undergraduate Students
MPH, MS-Global Health, and Certificate Students
Ms. Sarah Liu is the academic advisor to all MPH, MS-Global Health, and public health certificate students. Students are encouraged to meet with Ms. Liu once per semester to discuss course planning, programs of study, any other academic questions.
Masters’ level students should read the Graduate Student Handbook for their catalog year for additional information. All current students have the link to schedule a meeting with Ms. Liu.
PhD Students
Doctoral students are admitted with an assigned faculty mentor and work as their Graduate Research Assistant. Faculty mentors provide academic and professional advising to doctoral students. Once a student has advanced to candidacy, faculty mentors are usually the chair of the candidate’s dissertation committee. Doctoral students should meet and discuss their programs with their faculty mentors regularly.
Mr. Isaac Chomitz is the academic program coordinator for doctoral students. Students and their mentors are encouraged to bring inquiries regarding course planning, programs of study, and department and doctoral program policy to Mr. Chomitz.
